With great relief we announce that the application for environmental authorisation for a clay mine on the farm Gannabosch Vlakte 51 was refused!
The applicant, Gannabosch Clay Mine (Pty) Ltd, was informed by the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) with letter, dated 18 April 2017, that the application (10082MR) for environmental authorisation for a clay mine on the farm Gannabosch Vlakte 51 in the Magisterial District of Robertson: Western Cape Region was refused.
The reasons for the decision are that the Department is not satisfied with the manner in which the needs and desirability have been addressed in the Application Form, the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Environmental Management Program.
However notice was given that the applicant intends to appeal the decision with the Department of Environmental Affairs in terms of the National Appeals Regulations and Umvoto Africa will represent the applicant in the appeals process.
