On the 27 October 2020 the Conservancy facilitated a workshop given by the Cape Leopard Trust to land owners/managers and farm workers, on snares. These devices crafted out of wire or rope have devasting effect on wildlife and kill indiscriminately. This not only affects the wildlife in the area, but also the food base for predators such as leopard. This an illegal form of hunting. Workers and managers were made aware of the problem, how to spot snares in a field demonstration and how to report them. This information feeds into the Cape Leopard Trusts database to understand where hotspots of snares are.
We thank the CLT for their workshop and passion towards conserving the leopards of the Cape!
